Kinbaku it is

Yoshitoshi Tsukioka and Itoh Seiu are two artist during the Meijin period that influenced the development of modern Kinbaku.

Kinbaku has its origins in Japan. It is also known as Shibari or (Japanese) Bondage.

Most of its techniques have their origins in martial arts.

During the Meijin restauration samurais where in less demand. However, with a violent history society needed somehow to depict this. Here Kabuki theater and Ukiyo-e (wood prints) borrowed the martial arts skills and ideas on the use of rope for artistic purposes. This transformed the art of war into the erotic art that it has become nowadays.
